Hydrophilic PVDF Membrane for Sterilizing
Polymempore® PVF Filter Cartridges are 100% integrity tested; ensure sterilization and small particle removal in a wide range of food & beverage, biological liquids, and intermediate bulk pharmaceutical fluids.
The Polymempore® PVF Series is constructed of single-layer hydrophilic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane. It offers broad chemical compatibility, high flow rates at low-pressure drops, and low extractables.
Hydrophilic PVDF is particularly suited for the filtration of products that contain substances that adsorb to the media, The lower binding characteristics of PVDF make it a good choice for filtration of valuable protein solutions such as vaccines and biologicals.

The main difference lies in their chemical compatibility and filtration properties. PES (polyethersulfone) membranes offer excellent compatibility with a broad range of solvents, acids, and bases. They are known for their low protein binding and high flow rates.
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) membranes, on the other hand, have superior chemical resistance, making them suitable for aggressive solvents and strong acids. PVDF membranes also provide high protein binding capacity, making them ideal for protein-based applications. The choice between PES and PVDF depends on the specific requirements of the filtration process, including chemical compatibility and protein retention needs.
