SANIpore® DS Capsule Filter

Double-layer hydrophilic PES membrane

SANIpore® DS filter cartridges feature a dual-layer hydrophilic polyethersulfone (PES) membrane, offering both high throughput and reliable microbial retention. Designed for critical applications, they can be repeatedly sterilized with steam or hot water, extending service life and helping reduce replacement costs. This balance of performance and cost-efficiency makes them suitable for final filtration of vaccines, biologics, and fermentation liquids.

PES Capsule Filters with Staubli Connection
Capsule filters incorporate a single-layer hydrophilic PES membrane and a Staubli vent connection, enabling online integrity testing. With broad chemical compatibility and low protein binding, the capsules are ideal for the filtration of sensitive or high-value products such as biologics and vaccines. Constructed entirely from polypropylene without adhesives, binders, or surfactants, each unit is DI-water rinsed to minimize extractables and reduce process downtime. The hydrophilic PES membrane does not require pre-wetting, supporting efficient, contamination-free startup in small-scale or single-use systems.

Common questions about Sanitek

Common Questions about SanitekWhat is the difference between PES and PVDF filter membranes?

The main difference lies in their chemical compatibility and filtration properties. PES (polyethersulfone) membranes offer excellent compatibility with a broad range of solvents, acids, and bases. They are known for their low protein binding and high flow rates.

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) membranes, on the other hand, have superior chemical resistance, making them suitable for aggressive solvents and strong acids. PVDF membranes also provide high protein binding capacity, making them ideal for protein-based applications. The choice between PES and PVDF depends on the specific requirements of the filtration process, including chemical compatibility and protein retention needs.

Common Questions about SanitekHow do you guarantee the quality of your filters?

All materials meet the specifications for biological safety per USP Class V1-121 C for plastics. Materials of construction comply with FDA regulations for food and beverage contact use as detailed in the US Code of Federal Regulations, 21 CFR. Materials used to produce filter media and hardware are safe for use in contact with foodstuffs in accordance with EU Directives 10/2011.

Common Questions about SanitekAre these filters compatible with aggressive chemicals?

Our PES membrane offers broad chemical compatibility, making it suitable for use in a wide range of process fluids, including solvents, acids, and buffers commonly used in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical applications.

Common Questions about SanitekWhat is the recommended operating pressure for these filters?

The recommended operating pressure for our PES filters varies depending on the specific model, but generally, our filters are designed for low differential pressures to ensure high flow rates while minimizing the risk of membrane damage.

Common Questions about SanitekWhat sizes and configurations are available for PES filter capsules?

Our PES filter capsules are available in a range of sizes and configurations to meet different flow rate and filtration area requirements. Whether for small-scale lab experiments or large-scale production, we offer solutions tailored to your specific needs.

Common Questions about SanitekCan these filters be used for the filtration of both liquids and gases?

Yes, our PES filter capsules and cartridges are versatile and can be used for both liquid and gas filtration. Their broad chemical compatibility and reliable performance make them suitable for various applications, including sterile air and liquid filtration.
