Expanded Hydrophobic PTFE Membrane for Solvents
The Polymempore® TFES filter cartridges are composed of an expanded hydrophobic PTFE membrane, characteristics include organic & inorganic corrosion resistance and its inherently hydrophobic nature.
These filters are ideally suited for the sterile filtration of solvents and corrosive and oxidized liquids.

The main difference lies in their chemical compatibility and filtration properties. PES (polyethersulfone) membranes offer excellent compatibility with a broad range of solvents, acids, and bases. They are known for their low protein binding and high flow rates.
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) membranes, on the other hand, have superior chemical resistance, making them suitable for aggressive solvents and strong acids. PVDF membranes also provide high protein binding capacity, making them ideal for protein-based applications. The choice between PES and PVDF depends on the specific requirements of the filtration process, including chemical compatibility and protein retention needs.
